Short multiplication is multiplying a two or more digit number by a single digit number - e.g. 83 × 7 or 157 × 9; - using a column format. It is a fast method of multiplication for children with a good understanding of multiplication. (Children should be proficient at Grid Multiplication by Partitioning before attempting short multiplication.)

In these worksheets the children will multiply 2-digit, 3-digit, and then 4-digit numbers by 3 - so they need to have mastered their 3 Times Table before attempting these questions.
